Skin Replacements

Today in class we did skin replacements on people’s faces to give a fantasy effect on people. The finished product of this effect looked something like this:

skin replacement 1

To create this we imported the footage into Mocha AE to track the area on his cheek where we wanted the veins to be. We then took this tracking data back into After Effects where we added fractal noise and the vein effects. I wanted to try and make it look like my person had a fire underneath their skin so I added curves to the fractal noise and tried to change the colours to reflect that.

We then pre-composed a layer which consisted of the veins and fractal noise before copying the track data onto this as we were editing it onto this pre-composition. I then animated the fractal noise so it looked (kind of) like a burning flame.
